3 Benguet towns push for setting up of water district
THE municipalities of Kapangan, Atok and Tublay have asked the Provincial Board of Benguet to support the formulation of a local water utility to serve their water needs.
The mayors of the three towns signified their support to the establishment of a local water district after recognizing the need to come up with an efficient water delivery system for these areas.
But before such plan would materialize, proponents of the Metro Water District for the three towns said a provincial board resolution, creating the utility, should be submitted to the Local Water Utilities Administration (Lwua).
Proponents of the project earlier emphasized the need to establish an efficient water delivery system to adequately supply residents of these localities who are said to be often suffering from water borne diseases due to the absence of delivery facilities.
They claimed the put up of the Kapangan-Atok-Tublay Metro Water District (KATMWD) is needed to address the problem.
They added the utilization of the province's existing abundant water resources would be maximized through the establishment of the KATMWD.
This would be beneficial to residents of (these) municipalities, including transient populace and visitors, the proponents added. (JC)
