Baguio prepares for influx of tourists
BAGUIO City will have its hands full with the expected arrival of visitors from other places of the country starting this week as well as in December.
Last week, some 2,000 delegates attending two separate conventions already arrived in Baguio, prompting Mayor Braulio Yaranon to say that tourists are beginning to come up.
The mayor said the security of the residents and even tourists remain a top priority of the city government as it continues the intensified presence of police officers through the anti-peddling task force.
Yaranon said police officers assigned to composite teams of the task force now takes on another duty of making sure that tourists would not get robbed of their valuables while stressing that tight security contributes to the City's bid of promoting it as a tourist destination.
It may also be recalled that the mayor appealed to residents to do their share in promoting the city by cooperating to measures imposed by the present administration such as waste segregation, curfew and kapkap operations.
"We should be aware that this is our city. Look at the tourism industry as the industry of the whole city. Everybody should help." (RO)
