Nature strokes
INIMITABLE ARTIST Willy Magtibay gravitates toward nature again.
Endless days of reflection that sprung from long walks around the slopes of the Cordilleras and the shores of the South China Sea breathe life into "Atmosphere" -Magtibay's latest collection of large-scale works now on display at the Camp John Hay Marketing, Sales and Public Relations office in Ordonio Drive.
The exhibit depicts the artist's awe of the vastness of environment and its healing powers that never fail to invigorate and humanize man. In oil and acrylic lacquer, the artworks consist of landscapes, cloudscapes and seascapes with the deepest of blue dominating.
Magtibay's recent works exemplifies his decades-old love affair with his art. He is a recipient of the Cultural Center of the Philippines' 13th artist award and had carried the country's colors and banner in the Cuba Biennalle, the Arx Artist Regional Exchange in Perth, Australia, and the 2nd Southeast Asian Painting Photography and Children's Art in Brunei.
"Atmosphere" opened November 27 and will run until Jan. 2, 2006. Sponsored by Smart Communications Inc. and the Camp John Hay Development Corporation's Marketing, Sales and Public Relations Group, proceeds of the exhibit will go to the Share-A-Joy Foundation, and Sofia (a Waldorf-inspired School in Maryknoll).
