La Trinidad supports dorm project in Wangal

BAGUIO CITY -- A proposal to establish a student dormitory at Wangal, La Trinidad gained the endorsement of the town's Municipal Council.

In passing Resolution 199-2005, the council said the construction of a dormitory that would cater to the needs of the growing number of students from the different towns of Benguet is but proper to uphold the provincial government's programs for education.

"This body believes that the construction of a student dormitory at Wangal is very much in line with the program of the government to promote literacy among the youth," the resolution, which endorsed the request of municipal officials of Bokod, stated.

The local government of Bokod earlier requested for the establishment of a dormitory to house Benguet students who converge at the province's capital town to pursue their studies.

As proposed, the put up of the facility will be funded by the Provincial Government.

The student dormitory in a provincial lot is seen to help ease the burden of students who come from the different towns to attend their schooling either in La Trinidad or Baguio, the Bokod resolution stated.

"Constructing the dormitory will (also) help ease the burdens of parents and it is one of the most practical way on how we can help our students find a comfortable dwelling units (especially since) we are (near) the educational center of the North," officials here added. (JC)/b>
