Administrator begins 'patching up' mayor, dep't heads, dads
NEWLY installed City Administrator Peter Fianza is already in the process of "fixing" the alleged row between the Office of the City Mayor, some department heads, and the City Council.
Fianza, who attended Friday's regular press conference at the City Mayor's Office (CMO), said his office is already studying some "points of disagreement" between the executive and legislative branches. He said he has already met with Vice Mayor Reinaldo Bautista Jr.
He said they are particularly studying the issue on the position of the City Council on resolutions that were disapproved by the mayor but were subsequently overridden.
The city administrator, however, clarified that the differences between the two branches are not irreconcilable as it is similar only to a "love-hate relationship". "It is not a conflict of personalities but differences in opinion," he said.
For some department heads, Fianza said his office is now trying to come up with certain working conditions that would set the pace for a better working relationship between the CMO and some of the department heads.
Yaranon reportedly is in disagreement with some of his department heads, especially those identified with the previous administration.
But the mayor denied being in conflict with some department heads, saying he only wants to assure that "those department heads" are serving the City Government and not the previous officials.
Early into his term, one of the changes Yaranon has imposed was that the weekly department heads meeting should be done once a month. (RO)
