Traffic body hits exclusion from city rerouting plan
A RANKING official of the Traffic Management Group (TMG) in the region criticized the Baguio City Government for not including them in the planning of the traffic rerouting scheme for city's central business district.
TMG Regional Chief Robert Ganzon on Wednesday expressed dismay over the city's move to conduct the rerouting plan without first consulting their office, which he claimed, is the agency that is more well-versed when it comes to traffic management.
Ganzon said it is but appropriate to coordinate with the agency so they could give their inputs before any rerouting is implemented.
"We should have been included in the planning for us to give some inputs and not only after problems arise (regarding traffic rerouting schemes) that our assistance is being sought," Ganzon said in the "Kapihan sa Benguet" forum.
The City Government has implemented a traffic rerouting along Upper Session Road, supposedly from November 29 to December 12, to ease the flow of vehicles traversing Bagguio's main road.
But Mayor Braulio Yaranon suspended the experimental rerouting barely one week after its implementation as per the recommendation of the Baguio City Police Office-Traffic Management Branch (BCPO-TMB), because of complaints of heavy congestion in the area.
Ganzon meanwhile said one of the reasons why the city's traffic problem worsens is because several sectors are dipping their hands on plans to manage traffic. (JC)
