Add'l Christmas grant to city workers eyed
THE Baguio City Local Finance Committee (LFC) was directed anew to source out available funds from the City's coffers for the release of an additional P5,000 Christmas bonus to employees of the City Government.
This developed after President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, during the ninth National Convention of Government Employees and the 60th anniversary of the Philippine Government Employees Association, pledged the grant of additional P5,000 Christmas bonus to government employees "in recognition of their hard work, perseverance and dedication to service."
Councilor Leandro Yangot Jr. said this is apart from the earlier directive of Mayor Braulio Yaranon to the LFC to come up with guidelines in the release of additional incentives to national-paid employees following the concurrence of the Commission on Audit, Civil Service Commission and recently, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).
"In order to alleviate the plight of all employees of the city government, there is a need to determine the available source of fund for the release of additional Christmas bonus," a portion of Resolution 345-2005 approved by Yaranon last December 14, noted. (RO)
