La Trinidad to parade strawberry float By Jane Cadalig
TO FURTHER promote La Trinidad as the country's strawberry capital, the Municipal Government would be displaying a strawberry-inspired float in the upcoming Panagbenga float parade.
Instead of strawberry fruits, roses will be used to decorate the float, which is estimated to stand about 11 feet high.
According to Julius Mandac, committee on floats chairperson, over 230 dozens of red, orange and white roses and 1,000 dozens of chrysanthemum are expected to bedeck the float.
Mandac said the use of flowers to decorate the float is also aimed at promoting the town as a primary producer of cutflowers. Some flowers would be donated by the farmers while other expenses in the preparation would be shouldered by Mayor Nestor Fongwan.
The town will be spending not less than P100,000 for the float, which would be La Trinidad's entry in the float parade open category.
Of Benguet's 13 municipalities, only La Trinidad has so far confirmed its participation in the parade. The province, through the Office of the Governor, also expressed interest in joining the parade.
