Ad hoc body told to ensure Session Road cleanliness By Rimaliza Opiña
WITH the observation that too much litter are scattered along Session Road since its closure last week, the Alay sa Kalinisan Inc. (Aski) has urged the ad hoc management committee to take the cudgel in maintaining the area during the festival's duration.
In a letter addressed to ad hoc committee chairperson Nelia Cid, Aski action officer and Vice Mayor Reinaldo Bautista Jr. echoed public observation that the activity lacks order, that plants on flower boxes have been uprooted and garbage cans are every where.
With Mayor Braulio Yaranon's endorsement, Bautista said the ad hoc's executive committee has already been ordered to deploy street sweepers. The group was also told to advise stallholders to maintain cleanliness in their respective areas.
Aski, meantime, decided to conduct a flushing of Session Road on March 7.
Bautista said the would-be activity is part of Aski's continuing cleanliness campaign.
Aski was an active partner of the City Government in the flushing of the city market during the meningococcemia outbreak last year.
"The city's cleanliness is at question," Bautista said as he complained the lack of a proper sanitation plan by the event organizers.
In the flushing next week, Bautista said several companies already committed to donate materials to be used in the clean up of the city's main road.
He said Mountain View Cable Television committed to deliver water and chlorine; while the Boy Scouts of the Philippines, Jollibee Food Corporation, Camp John Hay and Baguio Country Club pledged to send additional manpower.
