The clinic will be supervised by a well-known boxing coach and trainer from the Philippine Sports Commission.

Anson Tiu Co, senior vice president of Cooyeesan Hotel Plaza/San-An Realty Development Corporation, said Shape Up gym offers state-of-the art fitness equipments that meet international standards. It also offers other amenities.

PSC boxing coach and trainer Glicerio Catolico Jr. will teach children the basics of boxing and train them to focus on their physical conditioning through proper nutrition and exercise.

Coach Catolico was responsible for training several Cordillera boxers (boys and girls) who competed in national and international competition placing Baguio and the rest of the Cordilleras in the limelight.

"The clinic's first objective is not only the art of boxing but also is in building and improving the intellect. A healthy mind provides sound judgment and efficient decisions," Co said.

Co wrote Mayor Braulio Yaranon and City Administrator Peter Fianza asking support to the program and inviting interested parties even in the barangay level as part of their goal to give sporting chances to families who want to give their children the necessary education but were hampered by financial constraints. "Our aim is to keep the children where they belong, in the school."

The Boxing Clinic: Phase One is slated from April 1 to 5 where a minimal amount of P50 per person will be charged for the whole duration to cover the expenses of the trainees.

Interested parties may get in touch with Shape Up gym with telephone numbers 447-8888 or 445-7989.

Meanwhile, Cooyeesan Hotel Plaza donated two sets of basketball boards at the Athletic Bowl worth P14,600 to replace a dilapidated basketball boards there.

Fianza, City Human Resource Management Officer Jose Dacawi and City Sports Coordinator Edison Villafuerte represented Yaranon during turnover rites while athletes and basketball players who happened to pass by, rendered assistance to install the new set of basketball boards.

"At least matino-tino na rin ang paglalaruan naming," one of the boys said while thanking Cooyeesan representative Anson Tiu Co for their sports outreach program in the community.

Fianza did not waste time during the occasion as he vowed a way to immediately construct two sets of volleyball stands when athletic coach Art Alimbuyao complained that one of the volleyball stands is missing.

"We cannot deny the joy of children in the field of sports," Fianza said.
