Mayor wants night market fee probed
MAYOR Braulio Yaranon on Monday urged the Public Order and Safety Division to investigate the reported illegal collection done during the night market along Harrison Road.
This developed after the City Treasurer's Office said it has not collected any fee from the vendors who participated in the night market, which is contrary to reports that some personalities collected P50 per night per vendor.
"They should be apprehended. This is fraudulent," Yaranon said.
As this developed, the mayor said he would evaluate Administrative Order (AO) 09-2006, which indefinitely extended the conduct of the night market.
Until the City Council approves an ordinance that allows and prescribes fees for the night market, the P50 was supposed to be temporary only, said City Administrator Peter Fianza.
Sun.Star tried anew to contact Fianza regarding reports that a group was collecting the fees but this turned futile. (RO)
