Pinoy pop superstar contenders to visit Baguio

THE seven Pinoy Pop Superstar Year 2 grand contenders vying for the ultimate title of Pinoy Pop Superstar 2 grand champion will be in Baguio City this weekend.

The Pinoy Pop Superstar Year 2 grand finalists - Harry Santos of the National Capital Region (NCR), Gerald Santos (NCR), Aicelle Santos (NCR), Irra Cenina (NCR), Denver Regencia of Davao, Elis Estrada of Canada and Rosemarie Tan of California - will give the people of Baguio a preview of their brand performance as they hold a concert at the SM City Baguio at 6 p.m. on April 1.

Prior to their mall show, the seven hopefuls will visit several radio stations and will hold a motorcade around the city Friday.

There will also be autograph signing to give their supporters and fans a chance to meet them personally.

The performance of the grand finalists during the nationwide road show will also be judged. Pinoy Pop Superstar judges Danny Tan, Floy Quintos and Jay will be there to watch them perform. Ratings garnered by the grand contenders will be included in their over-all ratings during the grand showdown in May.

Harry Santos is the first Pinoy Pop Superstar Year 2 grand finalist who won for seven consecutive weeks. He is a 17-year-old freshman at the Conservatory of Music of the University of Santo Tomas. He believes that good attitude is very important in this competition. Harry has been known for his performance of Josh Groban repertoire.

The youngest Pinoy Pop Superstar Year 2 grand contender is 15-year-old Gerald Santos. Gerald said he join the top-rating search to help his family live a comfortable life. Among the trainings provided by the show, he loves the dance training the most since he is learning a lot from it.

Twenty-year-old Aicelle Santos is a third year Bachelor of Science in Psychology student at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila. In the history of Pinoy Pop Superstar, she is the first grand contender who reigned for eight consecutive weeks, making her the first undefeated weekly champion. Aicelle is a simple and outgoing person who started singing when she was seven years old.

Chatty, laid back and loves socializing with people is how Irra Jammal Cenina describes himself. A resident of Pasig City, Irra loves the music of artists such as Luther Vandross, Ruben Studdard and Mario Winans. This Bachelor of Science in Accountancy student of the De La Salle University-Manila learned how to play the keyboard first before he started singing when he was young.

Denver Regencia is Davao's pride in this top-rating search for the next singing sensation. He reveals he is a humble, quiet and approachable person. This fifth Pinoy Pop Superstar grand finalist said stage performance training has helped him perform better on stage. He said delivering one's best in every performance is one of the lessons he learned in the competition.

Crowned as Ms. Teen Vancouver in 2004, Elise Estrada is the representative of Canada in the Pinoy Pop Superstar Year 2. She was born in Marikina City but her parents, an architect and a nurse, were able to migrate in Canada. Elise, who is fond of jazz and rhythm and blue, is taking up a business course in Kwantlen College in Vancouver. Elise, who bested the other 14 contestants, said she thinks her ability to write songs makes her different among other grand finalists.

Rosemarie Tan, 18, is the representative of the US in the Piony Pop Superstar 2. She is from Los Angeles, California. She started honing her singing skills at the very young age of three while performing in the New York musical, The Apollo. Despite being raised abroad, Rosemarie enjoys the music of local band Side A and wishes to have a duet with Gary Valenciano. (Press release)
