Ifugao begins successive fiestas
WITH the start of summer, visitors and residents can find respite and amusement with the beginning of scheduled successive town fiestas in the different municipalities of Ifugao.
The annual town festivals will showcase various distinct cultures, practices and products of the different municipalities as a way of preserving them for future generation.
The first municipality to celebrate the festival is Lamut, with its festival dubbed as "Rambakan ti Lamut," which was held last April 4-7 with National Police chief Arturo Lomibao as guest of honor. This will be followed by the town Fiesta of Hungduan dubbed "Tungoh ad Hungduan" on April 17-19, which in the native dialect means rest after the rice harvest season.
The fiesta will be marked with ethnic games competition, cultural presentation and other indigenous forms of entertainment.
On April 18-20 is the ninth "Kulpi ad Asipulo" celebration with the theme "Cultural Heritage is Strength, Sustaining it is Success."
The capital town of Lagawe will have its celebration on April 26-28, also dubbed "Kulpi ad Lagawe" followed by the "Gotad ad Kiyangan" on April 28-May 1 and "Gotad as Hingyon" the following week.
The rest of the municipalities will celebrate their fiestas one after the other until the third week of May.
Visitors and tourists are welcomed to join in the celebrations and partake of the hospitalities and kindhearted culture of the Ifugaos.
