Ifugao Revenue Examiner Alex Valdez said the tax mapping operations conducted in Kiangan on big and small establishments revealed that only 23 percent of them did not incur any violations.
The operations disclosed the following violations: 37 percent were unregistered; 10 percent registered business establishments failed to pay their annual registration; 15 percent has no certificate of registration displayed; 4 percent have no notice to the public displayed; 2 percent failed to issue receipts; 9 percent failed to register books of accounts; 6 percent failed to keep books of accounts at place of business; 10 percent failed to make daily entries in the registered books of accounts.
The activity was aimed at establishing cordial relationship with taxpayer by giving assistance thru tax information drive and verification of taxpayer's compliance requirements during the actual visitation of taxpayer's establishment and its branches.
Valdez added this is the second time the RDO conducted such operations in Ifugao; the first one was in 2004. This helped the Bureau of Internal Revenue in increasing its collections, he said. Ifugao registered the highest tax collected in the region last year.
One of the objectives of the project is to adopt a uniform approach in the discharge of tax mapping functions to forestall inconsistencies and conflicts in the application of rules and regulations in the course of inspection of the establishments and contact with taxpayers or their representatives and to emphasize the importance of courteousness, respectfulness and firmness in dealing with taxpayers and show them that a cordial relationship can be maintained between the taxpayer and the revenue officers.
Valdez said the activity would also be conducted in other municipalities of the province.
