Baguio school principal one of country's best
THE principal of the Baguio Achievers' Academy (BAA) was adjudged as one of the 10 Outstanding Female Private Elementary School Principals of the Philippines.
For her feat, BAA directress and principal Linda Claustro Orduña was awarded the Gintong Ilawan-Teodora Alonzo Educators' Award given by the Department of Education and AVON Philippines.
She is the first national winner of said award in the city.
Orduña received the award from DepEd undersecretary Dr. Fe Hidalgo, who also chaired the board of judges during the awarding program at the Shangrila Hotel last May 12.
She will be honored by the city government during the flag-raising ceremonies in front of City Hall Monday morning.
Orduña was cited for her "passion for excellence, commitment to her vocation and genuine love and concern for children."
The principal is known for implementing "a special curricular program that gives a head start in computer literacy, journalism and science research."
"She gives equal importance to teacher training and provides many learning opportunities for her teachers as well as faculty of other schools. She creates and fosters an environment for work and learning in which a student can achieve a level of comfort with one's self, other people and the environment and culture to which they belong."
Orduña is also credited for promoting "collaborative efforts of the school, family, community in the children's education" being an advocate of "wholistic child development."(Aileen Refuerzo)
