Adivay working committees formed

THE Provincial Government of Benguet is conducting full preparations for the second staging of the Adivay Festival and the province's foundation day celebration.

Governor Borromeo Melchor already created the committees that would be working for the pre, actual and post celebration activities.

Seven committees were formed to conceptualize, plan, implement and coordinate the affairs and programs for the festival and the foundation week celebration. These committees are composed of multi-sectoral groups who will be working together before, during and after the affair to ensure the smooth implementation of the programs and activities as planned.

The Adivay Festival, which was initially staged in February 2005, was institutionalized as an annual celebration of the province by virtue of an ordinance passed by the Provincial Board (PB).

It was an agro-industrial undertaking, which highlighted Benguet's unique products and tourist destinations.

The festival staging however was moved to the last week of October and would culminate during the Benguet Foundation Day, which falls on the third week of November.

In an executive order, Melchor said there is a need to expand the number of working committees to strengthen the coordination of all the activities and programs during the two provincial celebrations. (JC)
