Use of color-coded aprons for market vendors mulled By Rimaliza Opiña
COUNCILOR Daniel Fariñas has proposed that vendors in the city's wet markets be made to wear color-coded aprons.
"A color-coded apron system that is both useful and pleasing to the sight of market-goers may somehow put to order the otherwise chaotic sight that is observed in the public as well as private Baguio markets," he said.
A system is also expected to aid the Baguio Market Authority in the collection of market fees and in monitoring legal vendors, Fariñas added.
The councilor proposed that vendors selling meat should wear a red apron; orange for fruit vendors; yellow for chicken and other poultry products; green for vegetable vendors; blue for fish, violet for grocery and sari-sari vendors; and white for flower vendors.
The Office of the Market Superintendent will be responsible for the issuance of a standard measurement and specifications of the apron, officially mark the aprons if approved.
