Music visionary group launched
TWO months after its soft launching last March 30, the Cordillera Christian Musicians and Artists Association (CCMAA), now CCMAA Inc., carried out its formal two-day launching last June 12 and June 16, respectively, at the Pop 'n Café, after its incorporation last December.
The event was filled with the different genres of gospel music performed live by CCMAA, Inc. artists belonging to different Christian denominations, and who come from the different parts of Cordillera.
The performance continued on Friday with artists commended by the audience, some of them pastors, for their rendition of country gospel music, among others.
"We are obsessed in coming up with something that would unite people of different faith, and we thought that music may be a way to unify this diversity," said Jeff Walcien, CCMAA president, when asked what motivated him to take part in organizing and incorporating the CCMAA.
"A united Christian artists and musicians of Cordillera for international standard Christian music industry" is CCMAA's vision and it carries the mission "to nurture a unified lifetime association of Christian artists and musicians for the growth and development of the Christian music industry of the region."
The objectives of the association include the design and promotion of programs and activities for the ultimate bonding of every member of the association gearing towards a unified cooperation in promoting healthy projects for the cause of Jesus Christ; the establishment and strengthening of patronage and promotional system of music to its members; the establishment of mechanisms for the protection and preservation of the music copyrights of its members; the development of programs and activities supporting Republic Act (RA) 9239 (Optical Media Law) and RA 8293 (IPR Law); and the promotion and support of programs and activities in the best interest of all its members, including resource generation for mission work and community development.
Envisioning an international standard for their gospel music compositions, CCMAA now looks forward to a musical exhibition by the last quarter of this year.
"This is in preparation for a gospel music awards competition that we intend to take part of by first quarter of 2007," said Walcien.
The association also prays that a local award-giving body for the cause may soon be organized.
In their desire to help develop every individual's God-given artistic and musical talents, and to strengthen the bonding of its members, the CCMAA is in the process of updating its membership. New members may get in touch with Ryan of Pop 'n Mac Café or with Jeff Walcien through mobile (0917) 789-7382 and (0919) 532-5675 for registration.
Meanwhile, the CCMAA artists perform regularly at the Pop 'n Mac Café from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. every Mondays and Thursday. (Press release)
