Barangays urged to submit project proposals early By Jane Cadalig
TO HELP facilitate the implementation of infrastructure projects in Benguet, the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) moved for the early submission of project proposals to be funded by the province.
The PPDO is asking barangay officials to submit their proposals on or before March 31 each year so that these would be included in the Annual Investment Plan (AIP) for the next fiscal year.
Board Member Liso Agpas supported the move, saying there is a need to come up with a cutoff date in the submission of project proposals to give enough time for the PPDO to prepare the AIP.
This, he said, would address the problem on delayed proposals that usually bother the PPDO.
"Sometimes, requests for funding are submitted on the months of September and October, which is already too late to be accommodated. It would be better if we impose cutoff dates so that project proposals would be evaluated properly," Agpas said.
The PPDO reported that the office receives an average of three to four requests for funding assistance per day.
To give enough time for evaluation and prioritization, the office included the early submission of propositions as one of the guidelines to be adopted in the implementation of infrastructure project.
