2 girls charged father with sexual abuse
By Ernie N. Olson Jr.

TWO girls, both elementary school pupils, filed sexual abuse charges against their father.

Police Regional Director Raul Gonzales described the two complainants to be residents of Lamut, Ifugao. The suspect was said to be 33 and a resident of another barangay in the same town.

The filing of charges resulted after a grade six pupil sought the help of a neighbor following her escape from her father who wanted to molest her last September 4.

"It is sad to note that children are not safe within their own homes. The victims, especially children, are robbed of their innocence and childhood because of traumatic experiences such as this," Gonzales said.

He said the community should work together with the police to ensure that the rights of women and children are protected not only against sexual abuse, but against any form of abuse.

The elder of the two children said their father went to their grandparents' house in Poblacion West, Lamut Ifugao where she was temporarily residing and forced her to go home with him.

Later that same night, the girl said she was awakened when she felt her father starting to touch her private parts. While the suspect was removing his pants, she bolted and sought the help of their neighbor.

The victim narrated that her father started molesting her when she was still in grade IV or two years ago.

The younger victim revealed the same ordeal when she learned about the sexual molestation of her elder sister. She also narrated that her father started molesting her when she was in grade 3.

Both victims said their father threatened to kill them if they would tell any one of their sexual ordeals.

Gonzales said the suspect is now the subject of a manhunt operation after charges were filed against him before the Ifugao Provincial Prosecutor's Office.
