She took home a cash prize of P10,000, P5,000 for her school, a plaque of recognition, certificate of recognition for the school and a certificate of recognition for the school principal.

Brenda Ducusin of the Ifugao Provincial Science High School (IPSHS) in Lamut, Ifugao, meanwhile, was second placer in the secondary level category.

Scaap president Aurora Catabona presented the awards during the seminar-workshop for Science Club Leaders of the Philippines at the Legend Hotel in Palawan.

The search for outstanding science club advisers of the Philippines started in March 2006 to promote science consciousness and understanding of science, technology and environment in the grassroots level; highlight the importance of the role of science club advisers in the management of co-curricular organizations in schools and their significant contributions in the community through relevant programs and activities; and recognize exemplary performance of science club advisers in the elementary and secondary levels throughout the country.

With the theme "Saving and Improving Lives Through Science and Technology", the seminar-workshop was aimed at strengthening the implementation of programs and projects in connection with the celebration of the National Science Club Month every September of the year; enhancing the knowledge and skills of science club leaders, teachers, coordinators and science enthusiasts on how to cope with advance science and technology for life improvement; and applying values that focus on technological advancement to save life.
