OUTSOURCING business is improving in Baguio as seen in the increasing number of recruits employed in local call centers, said an official of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
DTI Benguet Provincial Director Carmelita Usman said this could be attributed to the presence of infrastructure that are essential in operating a call center such as electricity and Internet accessibility, apart from the presence of manpower needed for call centers to operate.
Usman said the presence of hospitals, schools and institutions that meet the demands of foreign investors is also contributory to the increasing number of this line of business that wants to operate in Baguio.
Compared to a three percent recruitment rate in other key cities in Northern Luzon, Baguio has a 10 percent recruitment rate, Usman said, adding that this trend is an indication that the city is slowly attaining its goal as an information, communication and technology hub. (Rimaliza Opiña)
