Monday, December 04, 2006 Dec. 11-17 declared as Baguio media week
ACTING Mayor Reinaldo Bautista Jr. has approved the proposed resolution declaring December 11 to 17 as Baguio Media Week in the city.
Authored by acting Vice Mayor Leandro Yangot Jr., the approved resolution will "gather media practitioners for a three-day exhibition of the year's work highlights," and end with a night of recognition and awards for efforts made to uplift the profession.
Accordingly, the festival is an offshoot of last year's media awards, and to be duplicated on December 15-17 for a seminar featuring Cordillera speakers who have been successful in the local and national tri-media organization field.
Awards for radio, television and print media practitioners will be given during the occasion, the resolution read.
Yangot said the media "plays a vital role in the dissemination and public information of different events and activities of the City Government."
He added that the show of support for the Baguio Correspondents and Broadcasters Club (BCBC) "is a genuine manifestation on the part of the City Government in showing its concern to further strengthen the camaraderie of the city officials and its constituents." (JF)
