Saturday, January 13, 2007 Subdivision folks oppose barangay road closure By Rimaliza Opiña
OFFICERS of the Dreamland Subdivision Homeowners Association Inc. (DSHAI) are contesting the closure of a barangay road leading to the subdivision "because of the inconvenience it brings to residents."
The barangay road located at Purok 10, Upper Pinget was closed on Friday and would last until January 20 to give way to its repair.
But DSHAI officers asked acting Mayor Reinaldo Bautista Jr. to stop the road's closure.
They suggested that the project contractor should cement first only a portion of the road so that the residents in the area could use the other parts. They said the contractor should wait until the cemented portion becomes passable before they would cement the other portions.
They said the closure of the road would affect the students passing the street to go to their respective schools.
According to them, water supply in the area would also be impaired because the road closure would not allow the entry of water delivery trucks that cater to 150 households.
They said the ongoing construction of private residences and inconvenience in the delivery of goods in the subdivision are also some of the reasons cited why they opposed the road's closure. Most importantly, they added, emergency situations could not immediately be attended to because of the road's closure.
