Thursday, January 18, 2007 17 stall owners may occupy new market building: dad By Jane Cadalig
THE 17 stall owners at the old public market in La Trinidad would be accommodated at the new market, a councilor said.
Councilor Romeo Salda, chairman of the Municipal Council committee on market, assured occupants of the 17 extension stalls that they would be given space at the new public market building.
Salda, however, said those who will be allotted space should pass the qualifications that would be set by the Municipal Council in order to avoid conflicts.
"The 17 stall owners will be considered at the 2002 public market building but they have to be subjected to pre-qualification requirements," he said.
This, as some town councilors raised observations that some of the stalls are occupied not by the original tenants.
"Those (vendors) who meet the qualifications will be given priority at the new market building," Salda added.
Guidelines and mechanics for the awarding of the remaining stalls are yet to be issued.
The 17 stall owners earlier asked the La Trinidad Municipal Government to give them space at the new market building for humanitarian reasons. They occupied the extension stalls at the old market facility.
