Mountain Province okays P1.2M for Cordi sports event
GIVING credence to sports to enhance the development of the capabilities of the youth, the Mountain Province Provincial Board (PB) approved a P1.2 million budget for the province's participation in the Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (Caraa) 2007.
The budget, which was forwarded to Governor Maximo Dalog for approval, will be used by the province's delegations to Caraa on the first week of March in Bulanao, Tabuk, Kalinga.
Aside from the P1.2 million allotted by the Provincial Government, the Department of Education (DepEd) regional office also provided P100,000. The municipality of Bontoc has also committed P20,000.
Other possible sources of funds are contributions from the 40 national high schools to the province amounting to P120,000 and the contribution of the different municipalities/school districts to the province amounting to P100,000.
Total budget of the province for this year's Caraa is P1,540,000 that will be utilized for uniforms, food, transportation, medicines, and payment of athletes' birth certificates requested from the National Statistics Office (NSO).
Provincial Sports Development (PSD) coordinator Arnaldo Petten said the province will be sending 565 delegates to Caraa, 376 of them athletes. The province will field competitors in all contested events.
