Sunday, March 18, 2007 All set for annual lucky summer visitors
FOUR lucky first timers to the summer capital would once again be accorded a four-day red carpet treatment as the Baguio Correspondents and Broadcasters Club is set to select this year's annual Lucky Summer Visitors during the Holy Week.
The Lucky Baguio-Benguet Summer Visitors, launched in 1958, serves as a symbolic gesture of gratitude to the visitors for choosing Baguio as their summer destination and underscores the city's status as a top tourism site.
The 49th yearly search has evolved into becoming one of the highlights of the city's Summer Vacation schedule of activities.
Although the criteria for this year's search are still being kept secret, primary criterion for the LSV is that he or she must be a first time visitor to the City of Pines.
After the selection tentatively set on April 5, the entourage would proceed to the town hall of Rosario for a brief courtesy visit on Rosario Mayor Larry Flores.
From Rosario, the LSV would view the famous zigzag of Kennon Road at Camp 7. From there, they would pay another courtesy call, this time on Tuba, Benguet Mayor Jose Baluda.
The lucky visitor/s would then proceed to Session Road via a motorcade, which would end at City Hall for a courtesy call on officials. From there, the lucky visitor would proceed to Hotel Supreme where he or she would be billeted free of charge.
During the LSV's stay in Baguio, the BCBC would tour him or her to famous tourist spots, including the Mines View Park, the Philippine Military Academy, the Benguet Mines Tour, Camp John Hay, the Baguio Country Club, the Lourdes Grotto, the Tam-awan Village as well as the strawberry fields and rose gardens of La Trinidad.
