BAGUIO City National High School (BCNHS) students won top prizes in the recent poster and slogan-making contest at the city's Igorot Park on Saturday.
The contest was held as part of the Life Planning as a Resource Intervention for Drug Prevention and Education program of the Baguio Center for Young Adults (BCYA) and the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (Cadac).
The artwork, which won a P1,500 cash prize, was done through the joint efforts of Jan Carlos Tabios, 14, of BCNHS 2-Hippie; and Royce Jordan Garcia, 13, of BCNHS 1-Carnation.
Coming in at second place for a prize of P1,000 was the poster drawn by Nicolas Carbonell, a third year student of BCNHS Roxas Annex; while the third prize was won by a composite artpiece of Monica Trinidad Rustia and Maria Liana Mesina, both 13 and first year students of BCNHS Main.
Submitting artworks that ended as runner-ups and won P300 apiece were Mikhail Trino Maslan, 15, of the Pines City National High School (PCNHS) Main; Myrel Chryz Abuan, 15, a third year student of BCNHS Main; Chino Chow, 16, a third year student of the Irisan National High School (INHS); and Jes Alif Desvasido, 15, of PCNHS Main.
Winning consolation prizes of P200 each were Danilo Berdal of BCNHS Roxas Annex 3-C; Jovencio Natura, a fourth year student of BCNHS San Vicente Annex; Sarah Bumalnong and Raymond Intal, both first year students of BCNHS Main; Mary Niña Clavene Payoyo, a second year student of BCNHS Main; Jessa dela Cruz, a third year student of PCNHS Bonifacio; Sharmaine Sanchez and Faye Duclayan, both first year students of BCNHS Main; Gregory Paris, a fourth year student of BCNHS Rizal Annex; Michael John Pakinkin of PCNHS; Rachel Gasigas, a first year student of PCNHS Bonifacio Annex; Louise Valerie Conjusta of BCNHS Loakan Annex; Elton John Alfaro of BCNHS Loakan Annex 3-Bismuth; Bhob Lindon Gutierez, a fourth year student of BCNHS Rizal Annex; and Lovel Lambayong, a fourth year student of INHS.
Judges during the selection of winners done at the BCYA office along Assumption Road on March 12 were representatives of the City Planning and Development Office, Baguio City Police Office, Cadac, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and BCYA.
