Wednesday, March 21, 2007 UP Baguio marks 'panag-ani'
EVERY semester, students from the University of the Philippines (UP) Baguio College of Arts and Communication (CAC) submit final projects like newspapers, magazines, TV productions and documentaries while others stage events and performances as their final output.
This year, the CAC decided to collaborate on a culminating celebration called as CAC "panag-ani," a weeklong event where all final projects and selected outputs would be made available for public consumption.
Panag-ani is a term used in many Luzon provinces to mean "harvest" or "harvest time" held from March 19-23 in time for the CAC college week celebration.
The activities include panag-ani opening and CAC building symbolic groundbreaking, opening of MS 11 exhibit and Lente: BC 130 digital shorts premiere night on March 19 and Lente: BC130 digital shorts screening, BC131 promotional campaign exhibit, J132 ad campaign exhibit, kwentong pambata exhibit, CAC Talastasan, MPH with Dr. Eufrecina Barros as paper presenter of "The West and The Rest: How Queer Is That?" and Humanities "I's Creative Reading Presentations" on March 20.
On March 21, there will be Lente: BC130 digital shorts screening, opening of Fine Arts exhibit, and 190º Productions Curtain Call: The 2003 Batch Party.
On March 22, activities will be CAC Talastasan, MPH with two paper presenters -- Professors Jimmy Fong on "Igorots on Igorots on the Internet" and Anna Christie Torres on "Hybridity --, Memory and Counter-Memory in the Short Fiction of Sinai Hamada", SC 124 Performance Art IM grounds/parking lot and faculty variety show.
On March 23, The Greenhorn Effect: BC101-JR Productions, MALL 295 Forum (MPH, 3-5PM), and Lente: BC 130 digital shorts awards night will be held.
"Lente: BC 130 Digital Shorts" is the final production of the Broadcast Planning and Production (BC 130) classes with 11 canned TV productions. Their output would be screened at the UP Baguio auditorium from March 20-22 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The short productions include Biyahe, Disillusion, Education 101, Halaw, Isang Daan, Kapalit, Kulot, Maskara, Pasyal, Pintig and Sequence of Strokes. These productions would also be aired on SkyCable this March. (DBZ)
