Dads asked to support condemnation of Iloilo dad ‘maltreatment’

BENGUET Provincial Board (PB) members in the country are being urged to unite and condemn the violence acts done by the PNP on a counterpart in Iloilo.

This resulted, after the Provincial Board of Iloilo called on the Provincial Board Member’s League to make a collective stand against the unfortunate treatment of one of its members.

It asked the Benguet Provincial Board to support its member’s move.

Members of the Iloilo Board denounced the ill treatment of its member, Jun Jun Tupaz, who, along with his family, were hit with the butt of rifles by PNP members during a commotion in their Provincial Capitol late last year.

The PNP was implementing a suspension order against Iloilo Governor Neil Tupas Sr., when his son, Board Member Tupaz intervened and pleaded to the PNP to wait for the issuance of a temporary restraining order from the Court of Appeals.

Instead of considering the young Tupaz’s request, the police resorted to violent acts, as it did when it forcibly entered the capitol building.

The Iloilo Board said something must be done on the matter, especially since the police has shown total disrespect to an elected public official.

"This incident should not be left not acted upon especially because one of the injured individual is our member," the Board stated in its resolution.

The legislative body is asking the board member’s League to have a collective stand in condemning the incident. (JC)
