Pakistani nabbed for duping foreigner out of P200,000
By Ernie N. Olson Jr.

A PAKISTANI national was arrested by a tracking team of the PNP Criminal Investigation & Detection Group regional office after he allegedly pretended to be connected with the Bureau of Immigration & Deportation, and collected P200,000 from another foreigner to "work out his papers."

Senior Superintendent Eduardo Bayangos, PNP-CIDG regional chief for the Cordillera, identified the suspect as Presnam Motwani Parkash, 54, married, a resident of 1565 Antonio Asip Street, Herran, Paco, Manila.

Bayangos said the suspect was collared by a team led by Senior Police Officer 2 Ernesto de Guia Jr. at Aguinaldo Street, Ermita, Manila, at around 11 a.m. of April 15 on the strength of a warrant issued by presiding Judge Antonio Esteves of Baguio's Regional Trial Court Branch 5 for a charge of estafa docketed under Criminal Case 27076-R.

"The case stemmed from the complaint of Prince Kumar, wherein the subject claims to be connected to the BID and promised to work out the papers (of the complainant)," he said. "After he collected P200,000 for the processing, the complainant came to know that the subject was not connected to the BID."

Although the suspect was presented to the concerned court after his arrest, he posted a P100,000 bail for his temporary liberty.
