Sunday, April 22, 2007 Asin employees yet to receive 4 mos. pay
FORMER employees of the Hydroelectric Power Corporation (Hedcor) who are now employed by the City Government have not been receiving their salaries for almost four months now.
This is because the City Council has yet to act on the proposed budget needed for the operation of the Asin mini hydroelectric power plants.
And unless the City Council convenes again, the release of the salaries of the affected employees would not materialize, said City Administrator Peter Fianza.
Fianza said he was expecting the City Council to approve the P9-million budget for the Asin hydro power plants but was stalled after members decided to seek expert opinion regarding questions on whether they should be considered resigned or not, following their respective filing of their certificates of candidacy.
Out of the P9-M, P380,000 is allotted for the salaries of the former Hedcor employees.
Meanwhile, Fianza said the Asin hydro technical committee would soon prepare the terms of reference for the bidding of the mini power plants.
He added that Hedcor is set to release the city's share from their operations amounting to P7.4-million.(Rimaliza Opiña)
