Thursday, April 26, 2007 Dad seeks public opinion in John Hay segregation scheme
REACTING over reports that the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) intends to patent the lands covering barangays within the Camp John Hay reservation, Councilor Jose Molintas suggested that a public consultation be done among residents to ascertain their plans if segregation pushes through.
Reiterating that the City Council does not have full jurisdiction over the status of the segregation of lots covering seven barangays, Molintas said there also has to be discussions on what plans to undertake after segregation.
Citing the case of Scout Barrio, he said the City Council reportedly has not been fully appraised of the status of lots there, after a proclamation was issued for its segregation.
Acting Vice Mayor Leandro Yangot Jr. and Councilor Elmer Datuin have earlier filed a proposed resolution asking President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to issue a presidential proclamation for the segregation of barangays Camp 7, Country Club Village, Greenwater, Happy Hallow, Hillside, Loakan-Apugan, Loakan-Liwanag, Loakan Proper. For more Philippine news, visit Sun.Star Iloilo.
