Friday, June 01, 2007 Kapangan seeks allocation of P2.5M for PNP station
THE local government of Kapangan, Benguet is calling on the PNP to release its counterpart for the construction of the municipal police building here.
Mayor Rogelio Leon said the municipality has already implemented its counterpart for the police station, which is the provision of a lot and a fund of P500,000.
The town has donated a 500-square meter lot, which is located near the municipal building, to the PNP and completed the posts for the proposed three-storey police station.
Former PNP Chief Arturo Lomibao, in his visit to the town in January 2006, committed P2.5 million for the police station.
But, up to now, Leon said the PNP has not yet released the amount committed.
"We are asking the PNP to implement its counterpart as we have already done ours," Leon said, adding that the town has been following up the request to the national headquarters.
He said other regions are complaining that the Cordillera has received much of the PNP funds already.
"But the money that we are following up is a committed amount, which the PNP should release," Leon said.
Senior Superintendent Moro Vorgilio Lazo, Benguet Provincial Police Office director, assured the local government that the provincial police is also closely following up on the release of the said funds for the construction of the office.
"Please be assured that this office is closely following up the release of funds for the construction of your police office, not only because you requested for it, but (because) we also want an office for our Kapangan Police Station," Lazo told Leon in a letter. (JC)
