Thursday, July 05, 2007 Controlled dumpsite operation should be improved: councilor
MPROVEMENTS are needed before the controlled dumpsite of La Trinidad starts its full operation.
Alno Barangay Chairman Rodrigo Luis said additional improvements should be implemented for the impending full operation of the controlled garbage facility to spare it from unnecessary damages.
Around two tons of residual waste was initially delivered to the controlled dump last Friday.
Luis however said the dump trucks should not pass through the dumpsite itself to preserve the facility.
Access roads are also a problem. Luis said this was already raised to the local government unit for implementation. "What we need at the moment is the widening of the road. We will be working for the concreting as soon as the widening is done."
Improvement of the roads leading to the village is among the conditions set by barangay officials in allowing the establishment and operation of the town’s controlled dump facility.
Except for the composting facility and the initial opening of the controlled dump, all other components of the solid waste facility have yet to start operating. (JC)
