By Ernie N. Olson Jr.

A RESIDENT of Baguio, considered as one of the Philippine's most wanted criminals, was arrested by a composite police team from Region 1 in Irisan.

Police Regional Office (PRO) 1 Director Leopoldo Bataoil identified the suspect as Ferdinand Aspiras Ysit alias Bong, 38, a carpenter, whose last known address was at 115 Pinsao Pilot Project, Baguio City.

Ysit is said to be wanted for a variety of crimes like murder, robbery-in-band, and frustrated murder and listed on the National Most Wanted Persons with an approved monetary reward of P400,000 for his arrest under Department of the Interior and Local Government Memorandum Circular (MC) 2002-39 dated March 13, 2002.

Bataoil said the arrest of the suspect at UP Village in Irisan on July 13 was made by virtue of two warrants issued by Judge Alexander Badua of the Municipal Circuit Trial Court of Aritao-Santa Fe, Nueva Vizcaya for the crimes of murder and robbery-in-band.

A separate warrant issued by Judge Meliton Emuslan of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 47 of Urdaneta City, Pangasinan for the crime of frustrated murder was also served on Ysit.

Bataoil said the suspect was turned over to the issuing courts for proper disposition and documentation prior to his detention in jail.

Meanwhile, a Pangasinan police team also arrested two barangay leaders who are co-accused of elected Vice Mayor Mila Antonio of Asingan, Pangasinan for the crime of estafa.

Bataoil identified the suspects as Roger Velasco of Barangay Poblacion East and Merla Faye Antonio Velasco of Barangay Domampot, both of Asingan, Pangasinan.

The arrest of the two was effected by virtue of a warrant issued by Judge Aurelio Ralar Jr. of RTC Branch 48 of Urdaneta City.
