Baguio High readies for annexes' transfer

THE Baguio City National High School (BCHNS) is prepared for the eventual transfer and relocation of one of its annex buildings.

The school building of the Fort Del Pilar Elementary School (FDPES) located within the Philippine Military Academy compound would be located at Atok Trail, Dr. Elma Donaal, BCNHS principal said.

The PMA also committed to help build the school by pitching for the needed labor force.

"We have to admit that we already have to leave the area because the PMA owns it," Donaal said.

Councilor Betty Lourdes Tabanda earlier filed a proposed resolution asking the authorities to reconsider its plan.

Tabanda said transferring FDPES would result to dislocation of some students and might even increase the drop-out rate.

FDPES has 1,265 students enrolled as of this school year.

The FDPES was built to accommodate the children of PMA personnel. Decision to take over the site was arrived at after it turned out that only a fraction of the school's population are dependents of employees of PMA.

In the 10-year strategic development plan of the PMA, the FDPES site would be used for the construction of additional transient facilities, services command, training support system and other infrastructure facilities.

The closure would take place on 2010 but groundwork starts on 2009.(Rimaliza Opiña)
