The City Council recently passed Resolution 198 which was subsequently approved by Mayor Reinaldo Bautista Jr. declaring the month of October of each year as local government month in the city.
“Declaring the month of October as Local Government Month will highlight the role and importance of local government units, which will hopefully provide the impetus and opportunities for them to become catalysts for meaningful and sustainable development,” the resolution noted.
The main celebration will be on October 12 beginning with a parade at 8 a.m. to be participated in by officials of the 129 barangays, line agencies and local government employees.
This will be followed by a program at the Baguio Convention Center with Senate Minority Leader Aquilino Pimentel Jr. as guest of honor and speaker.
During the program, the Lupon Tagapamayapa incentive award will be also given with the following barangays as winners: Quezon Hill headed by chairwoman Edita Ibarra, most outstanding lupon; Pacdal under chairman Luis Dangatan, first runner-up; Imelda Village under chairman Jose Fernandez, second runner-up; and Sto. Niño-Slaughterhouse under chairman Leon Tacata, third runner-up.
