TRANSPORT groups have started complaining about the uneven pavement of roads that have not been restored by the Department of Public Works and Highways through its contractors.
Other than pedestrians, the transportation sector is the most affected in traversing these roads, Vice Mayor Daniel Fariñas said.
He said this also results to traffic build-up because of difficulty in navigating these roads, previously in good condition but got ruined after the installation of an asphalt overlay that got washed out by strong rains.
For smoother traffic flow, Fariñas appealed to the contractors to speed up restoration works.
Earlier, Fariñas criticized the DWPH for not consulting or even coordinating with the City Government when the agency decided to do the asphalt overlay.
The City Government also earlier asked for the scrapping of the asphalt for fear that this might clog drainages.
A City Council inquiry was also conducted for the purpose. The DPWH and its contractors guaranteed that the overlay along Kisad Road, Magsaysay Avenue, Governor Pack Road and at Chugum Street would be restored as these are covered by the one-year warranty period.
