77 scouts to run Benguet offices on Monday

SOME 77 senior boy and girl scouts will assume offices for a day and take the posts of officials in line with the Scout Officials-for-a-Day (Sofad) on Monday, October 15.

Boy Scouts of the Philippines-Benguet Council Chair Bial Palaez said these senior scouts underwent screening on scout leadership in the district level before they are fielded in the different offices.

Sofad scout officials would take their oath before Governor Nestor Fongwan during the turn-over ceremony at the Provincial Capitol.

Of the 77 scouts who would be relieving the province’s officials’ posts for a day, 34 are local government unit officials, 13 from national line agencies, 29 officers from the Benguet State University and one from the private sector.

After the turnover ceremony, the Sofad officials prior to occupying their respective posts would be briefed on insights and guiding directions regarding their offices’ functions and responsibilities.
The Sofad program would serve as a learning process for the future leaders.
One of the activities in line with the scouting month was a street parade last October 6 in La Trinidad followed by a program at the open gym attended by some 11,000 boy and girl scouts of Benguet.

Giving color and attraction to the parade were the Police Regional Office band and the drums and lyres of Buyagan Elementary School, Balili Elementary School, Puguis Elementary School, Benguet Special Education Center and the BSU band.

BSU President Rogelio Colting welcomed the scouts to the campus and special livelihood programs.

Meanwhile, both BSP and Girl Scout of the Philippines council leaders reminded the scouts on scouting principles and programs like citizenship training, community leadership, values, character building, love of God and country and others.
