THE delayed construction of the controversial Baguio General Hospital (BGH) flyover project would resume this year after an additional P68 million was added for its completion.
The escalation of prices of construction materials stalled the construction of phase I of the flyover.
Baguio Representative Mauricio Domogan said this is on top of other fund allocations for Baguio like the P5 million for flood protection projects in Kennon and Naguilian roads, P40 million for the circumferential road, Happy Hallow-Balacbac section and P12 million for the Loakan airport rehabilitation.
Around P1.8 million was allotted for the restoration of the airport's reception building, Domogan added.
With the enactment of the P1.227 trillion budget for 2008, Domogan said the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) got its fair share of the budget.
A huge chunk of the allocation for CAR was devoted to the construction of farm-to-market roads, rehabilitation of major access roads and construction of diversion routes leading to several provinces in the region.
These include among others the continuing rehabilitation of Halsema Highway, construction of the Baguio-Banaue and the Bontoc-Kalinga roads. Funds have also been allotted for the improvement of the tourism industry in Ifugao, Domogan added.
The lawmaker said the continuing rehabilitation of major roads in the surrounding provinces of Baguio would help boost the city's tourism industry.
