Former Councilor Elmer Datuin, past president of the Baguio (Host) Lion's Club and chairman of the club's most outstanding barangay health and nutrition workers search committee, said the awards program is set to coincide with their 57th charter anniversary on November 21.
Among the 15 semi-finalists in the search for best barangay health workers, from whom only five would be selected, are Dolores Bautista, Maria Sheria Bautista, Remy Joan Bisley, Christine Cristobal, Mary Lourdes Fagayan, Rebecca Flores, Lilia Gamboa,
Fidela Kange-et, Cresencia Kigis, Maureen Kismod, Rosemarie Lachica, Alexandra Misola, Norie Madrid Nicilas, Merlia Ora and Rose Tagibos.
Included in the semi-final list of best barangay nutrition workers, on the other hand, are Jo Ann Alvez, Ofelia Basbas, Helen Calub, Rosalina Caya-on, Myla delos Santos, Lucia Della, Ma. Lourdes Gamueda, Estelita Jamon, Rowena Lubrica, Demetria Padadac,
Analiza Pelwa, Julieta Pingla, Delia San Juan, Corazon Sebastian and Marissa Seda.
"These 30 semi-finalists were selected from a pool of over 240 nominees, after the search was launched last October 9, and only 10 or five from every category would be selected before the end of this week," Datuin said.
He said this is just one way to recognize the efforts of Baguio's barangay volunteer workers, who are the actual front-liners in the delivery of the City Government's health and nutrition programs.
"Now that the Baguio (Host) Lion's Club has come up with this first-ever search to recognize the efforts of our volunteer workers in the barangays, we hope to institutionalize it and make it an annual activity," Datuin added.
Among the criteria in selecting the 10 finalists, is the nominee's performance, her achievements as certified by the medical officer or barangay official where the nominee is assigned, as well as her behavior, which includes attendance, tardiness, initiative, judgment, courtesy and human relations.
Aside from a P5,000 cash award for each winner in this year's search, a certificate of recognition and other gift items would also be given.
With Datuin in the search are other Baguio (Host) Lion's Club officers led by Dr. Ruben del Rosario Jr. and Dr. Florence Reyes, head of the City Health Services Office. For more Philippine news, visit Sun.Star Iloilo.
