Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Officer in Charge (OIC) Estella Cariño said the fair would focus on research works of elementary and secondary students, which include investigatory projects, science quiz, and sci-dama in science and damath in math.
Hosting for the second time, Cariño said the division is prepared.
Coordination and preparations for billeting has already been done. With the overflow of participants from the different schools in the Cordilleras, heads of the nearby schools of Lagawe Central, Cudog Elementary, Baguinge and Kiangan Central were directed to make ready their schools to accommodate the participants.
The fair, which would start activities on November 30, would be a good training ground for participating students since they would have a firsthand experience in defending their own researches and projects. Winners would also be given the opportunity to compete in the national level.
Cariño, however, expressed despair over the limited support given by the departments of Education and of Science and Technology to winners who join the national competitions. She appreciated the support given by the provincial government from the Special Education Fund (SEF), of which discretion on expenditures is given to the Department of Education (DepEd) Ifugao.
Admitting that most programs of DepEd have limited resources, she suggested there should be a paradigm change of school authorities in their financial management so that winning students are ensured of full support before and after the competitions.
