Tourism office set to hold training for tour guides

IN ITS aim of professionalizing those in the tourism sector, the Department of Tourism (DOT) will hold a 15-day accreditation training for tour guides, which would start in January next year.

The DOT will pre-screen about 50 participants for the training scheduled on January 14 to 30.

Participants should have attained at least two years of college education, must have good moral character and must also be proficient in speaking English.

Pre-screening would include an interview on language proficiency, the submission of documentary requirements such as a transcript of official records or a diploma if a college graduate, photocopies of training certificates and a 2”x2” ID picture.

Interested participants would be made to pay an amount of P3,500 for training materials and meals during the training.

The training will be held at the conference hall of the Baguio-Mountain Province Museum located at the corner of Governor Pack and Upper Harrison roads.

DOT regional office personnel said registration forms may be availed from them, and that if more details are required, interested participants may call them at telephone number (074)442-7014.
