Hedcor, Inc. asked anew to consider Kapangan town

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- If you haven't been hearing of Hedcor, Inc. lately it's because it's busy as a beehive in Davao.

This was explanation made by vice president Miguel Angel M. Romero-Salas when asked by Benguet Board Member Rogelio Leon if the company still has plans to answer the request of the Kapangan government to study the possibility of constructing a mini hydro facility in the town.

"Right now we are concentrating on our project in Davao. Our engineers and technical men are there," Romero-Salas said. Hedcor is building its Talomo minihydro plant in Davao.

But as soon as the Davao facility is up and running expect the power company to return to the Benguet to seek other possible areas to install power generators. "Benguet is our roots, so as soon as our engineers are no longer needed in Davao, they will be back to Benguet."

Although there is no definite timetable when the engineers and technical men will return, Romero-Salas said the company expects to improve its existing systems in La Trinidad and Bakun.

"And yes, we will revisit Kapangan as well as other sites in La Trinidad," he added. (Sam Bautista)
