Sunday, February 03, 2008 Beggar bites, stabs student
A STUDENT was rushed to the hospital, after he was stabbed and bit on different parts of his body by a vagrant, along Lake Drive of Burnham Park last Wednesday afternoon.
The stabbing and biting resulted after the student pushed away the "gay" vagrant, who held his leg, while singing and trying to beg for money from him and his touring companions.
Moises Guevarra, Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) director, named the injured victim as Bryan Mart Banag Rubrica, 18, a student from Pozorrubio, Pangasinan.
His gay assailant was only identified as a certain John Paul.
According to the victim, he and his companions were sitting along Lake Drive of Burnham Park at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, when the vagrant approached, started singing and begging for money.
However, when the beggar put his hand on the Rubrica's leg, he pushed the vagrant away.
The assailant picks up a barbecue stick, stab Rubrica on the back and bite him on various parts of his body.
He was rushed by his companions to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center emergency ward for treatment.
Although a responding police team scoured the park for any sign of the vagrant, this proved futile, as the beggar managed to elude arrest.(ENOJ)
