Monday, February 25, 2008 Travel agencies told to complete minors' documents
OTHER than the required documents needed in the issuance of passports, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) advised travel agencies to inform their clients to submit affidavits of support and clearance for minors that will travel abroad.
DFA Foreign Service Staff Officer Estelita Casuga said without this and other documents required by both the DFA and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), a minor who would be traveling alone or with a companion will be held at the Bureau of Immigration.
The DSWD earlier held a public consultation on the proposed increase of travel clearances from P300 to P600.
Hiyasmin Zambrano, DSWD information officer, said several issues cropped up during the consultation, but were not clarified because the agency is unaware of some policies of the DFA, the National Statistics Office (NSO) and the Bureau of Immigration and Deportation.
Results of the public hearing are pending before the DSWD central office for comment. (RO)
