So much so that our sidewalks are largely free and clear of vendors laying claim to the walkways as stalls-cum-talipapa.
So much so that one is quite impressed and forced to note, "Hmmm. Very snappy."
And then one reaches that area of the market called "hilltop." Where what is obviously a 10-or-so-meter road is once again (it stopped sometime, for a while) ruled by sidewalk tyrants.
Vendors of all manner of ware occupy both sidewalks and street with impunity. Areas that might otherwise be parking spots have disappeared in the morass of vegetables, pots, pans, clothes, and what not.
What little of the street left to vehicular traffic allows only one lane to be operational, so no: one cannot park. When one should be able to, and so should the rest of the world.
I cannot conceive that the head honcho cop can effect such "uyong" cops on the block downtown and be so lax on what is essentially just the back street of the Baguio Police Station, where a sign proclaims it as the best run police station of year 2007. Really. Talk about disconnects.
But let us, instead, connect. Police Chief Guevarra makes much of Baguio's Finest living up to that second word.
Sir, would you kindly look at that hilltop area, please. And put a stop to the sidewalk tyranny there, as you seem to have put a stop to it elsewhere. Also, one notices the utter absence of cops up there.
