Wednesday, March 05, 2008 Councilors form 3 sub-offices under Cepmo
WITH the immense responsibility lodged on the City Environment and Parks Management Office (Cepmo), the City Council on Tuesday approved the subdivision of this department into three.
The organizational structure of Cepmo is now composed of a department head, assistant department head and three division heads, for forest and watershed management, parks development and the solid and liquid waste management.
Mayor Reinaldo Bautista Jr. and even Human Resource Management Officer (HRMO) Jose Dacawi have been pushing for a division of Cepmo, in order to fully implement their functions.
Cepmo is a new department created in 2004. Solid waste management, which used to be under the General Services Office (GSO), liquid waste management a function of the old Public Utilities and Services Office (Puso), parks management then under Office of the City Architect and Parks Superintendent (Ocaps) were all transferred to the office.
Also in line with the devolution of functions of national line agencies to local governments, forest and watershed management will be a joint effort by both Cepmo and the Department of the Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
A new department, the City Buildings and Architecture Office (Cbao) also took some of the functions formerly delegated to Ocaps and the City Engineers Office. (RO)
