Tuesday, March 11, 2008 Cayading: The Chamber of Secrets By Trinidad Cayading D'Biz News
NO. IT is neither another Harry Potter's Chamber of secrets nor another sequel of a movie nor a room of a place and neither the Judge's chamber, but a MOVEMENT.
We, in the Baguio-Benguet Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (BBCCII) wish to inform everybody what is this MOVEMENT all about.
BBCCII is a non-profit action-oriented membership organization serving as the leading Voice of Business or rather the prime mover, and the representative of the business sector in Baguio City of Benguet.
It is an affiliate of the business Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), which is duly recognized by the government, as the National Association of the Business Sector.
BBCCII is a voluntary organization whose main goals are to foster close economic ties and business relations among local Chambers, other business and non-government organizations (NGOs), the local and national government line agencies as well as the foreign countries.
It also unites business and professional men and women into a central agency that lends itself to developing businesses and building a better community.
It directs its energies toward improving the community and conditions under which business is conducted.
The BBCCII accomplishes its objectives by providing a wide range of business development, organization and management trainings and seminars, consultancy and advocacy services and by establishing linkages between companies, organizations and individuals with existing or potential business interests.
The chamber enables its members to accomplish collectively what no one could do individually. Its strength lies in attracting the greatest number of firms and individuals into membership to create a pool of resources from which can be drawn ideas, energy and financing.
The chamber is people and their legitimate businesses -- its general membership.
To best understand what the chamber is, you need to know what it is not. The chamber is not a government agency, a branch of City hall, nor a political organization.
The chamber is not government-funded. Its budget depends almost entirely on the financial investments of its members.
Meanwhile, the Baguio-Benguet Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. Board of Directors and Officers were recently installed into office last March 7, 2008 at the Club House, Camp John Hay.
The following officers and directors inducted were: Johnny de la Cruz (K-Lite) President; Dennis Sy (New City Grocery) and Mars Garcia (Marcons Builders) 1st and 2nd Vice President, respectively; Roberto Pidal, (Kristoffe Pharmacy), Board Secretary; Susan Go (Elegant Hotel), Treasurer; Gilbert Figalan (Catering Services), Auditor; and Leonarda Aguinalde (Academe-UC), Press Relations Officer.
The inducted Board of Directors were PP Mario Alzona Jr. (Alpa PCM); Pablito Gumnad (Bamarva); and Modesto Imayaho (MBI Lending Company).
Immediate past president and currently the PCCI regional governor Alfonso Lao is also participating in BBCCI monthly board meeting in an ex officio capacity.
The guest of honor and speaker was his Excellency South African Ambassador Pieter Vermeulen and PCCI president Samie Lim was the inducting officer.
